StoryFORMing is grounding me in my real-time response to the EU Referendum.
I've written and posted articles on Medium, since the EU Referendum results were announced on June 24, 2016. The result of my publishing has been a set of conversations that is leading me to spearhead an event on September 5, 2016 at Conway Hall. Planning, with Conway Hall's chief executive, Dr Jim Walsh kicked off last week. Here's the sketch that invites contributions.
storyFORMing is a “story design” process unlike anything else available. Providing the perfect complement to familiar startup tools like Business Model or Lean Canvas, storyFORMing is used both for visioning and pitch presentation preparation. With your help, a crowdfunded card deck will soon be available.
storyFORMing user and advocate Abhay Adhikari has a project included in the 2016 Radical Top 50 by NESTA & the Observer newspaper. Read more on the project blog here>>>
KILN's newsletter includes the storyFORMing workshop I'll be bringing to ISPIM Annual Conference in Porto, Portugal later this month. You can read KILN's other news here.
Questions to ask when you're facing a storyFORMing canvas.
How does the canvas create a story?
When a canvas is chock full of rich, vivid specific information, stories can leap out at the reader. Which story you choose to share should be shaped by the context and occasion of its telling. The great thing about storyFORMing is that these choices remain open to you, so the story you tell here and now is both authentic and fresh.
To get to these options requires rich, vivid, specific content in each of the shapes.
The latest newsletter from KILN describes upcoming events: three of which feature storyFORMing. I'll be headlining at Planning-ness, with a 1-hour-45min interactive keynote in May. In June, I'll be leading a 2.5 hour Extending Workshop at CPSI (the Creative Problem Solving Institute conference in Buffalo, NY, now in its 61st year). In July, I'll be taking storyFORMing to ICOT, the International Conference on Thinking which this year is in Bilbao.
Thanks to Owen Turner and his lovely team at United by Design in York, England....it's now easier and less scrappy to work with storyFORMing.
